The SAFE Birmingham one 2 one mentoring programme is designed to work with young people aged 11-16 who are referred to BURN through schools, local authority, Children’s Trust, and SAFE Birmingham.
The aim of the programme is to provide mentoring for young people who need support and guidance in their lives. BURN provide mentors who act as trusted adults to the mentees, helping to work on identified concerns raised by the school.
The delivery model consists of a mixture of engagement tools and approaches to ensure that the mentoring style was fit for purpose.
The mentoring outreach programme delivered by BURN, with funding from SAFE Birmingham, has proven to be a highly successful initiative, with positive engagement from young people in the Aston, Newtown, and Kingstanding areas.
The programme provides youth mentors who are able to engage with young people on the streets, positive relationships and provide positive diversionary activities.
